![]() ![]() If you are talking about "Receive updates from other MS Products" radio button, that is a different policy option than what is used to exclude drivers. Also, originally, updating the RX 580 drivers didn't affect the R7 drivers, but this time, it did. Sometimes disabling Windows driver update isn't always the best choice because sometimes you'll need them, such as with the R7 APU. However, the R7 onboard graphics drivers are not available via AMD website, only via reinstalling the motherboard chipset or through Windows update, which, in this case, is the better option. So even though I typically don't have to rerun the show hide utility, there will be cases where it may be necessary. So, in short, there will be some instances where Windows will automatically update the GPU drivers, but this was only on one machine out of four. It also took multiple attempts to be able to install the drivers without factory reset being forced. I had to go through the process of reinstalling the 23.3.1 drivers, and I was finally able to get everything back to normal. Now, that is the first time in a very long time this has happened. Because of this, Windows update did overwrite the graphics drivers on the RX 580 while updating the R7 onboard graphics. During the update process, the factory reset option was checked and grayed out, so that I couldn't remove the check mark.īecause the AMD drivers were forcing factory reset, my onboard graphics drivers were removed. Update, actually today I updated the drivers from 23.2.2 to 23.3.1, on a computer with R7 onboard graphics. The only drawback to using GPE, on Win 10, is that you have to disable the policy when installing drivers manually, else it wont allow it. (yes I know that is a much hyped overstatement but simply pulling our hair out doesnt hurt as much) If you go the route some advise by disabling non MS updates, that includes any and every non MS unit. Some non MS driver updates are great and help whilst still others such as Windows AMD drivers updates can leave us wanting to toss our units into the streets. This way you can actually control the updates to be had. I found the best way to disable Windows 10 driver updates is using Group Policy Editor.
